With so many different types of pool decking material available, which is best? Sunshine Fun’s helpful video presents a few of the most popular options.

If you have made the decision to install a swimming pool, than you have undoubtedly discovered that there are many different types of pool decking materials available. With so many different trends and materials, which is the best? To help you get an idea of what decking is right for you, here are some of the most popular pool decking options.

Concrete

Concrete has been used for hundreds of years and it has become the standard for most budget pool installations. Not only is this pool decking material readily available, but it is also relatively easy to install. An often-seen variation on standard concrete is pea gravel, which is set into the surface of the concrete while it is still wet. This provides good traction and a more interesting look. While basic concrete is very common, it may not add to the overall look that you are hoping to achieve.

Stamped Concrete

If you like the strength of concrete but would prefer a more decorative look, stamped concrete may be a good option for you. Stamped concrete takes a cost-effective material and makes it look luxurious. With several stain colors and patterns to choose from, customizing this pool decking option is very easy.

Stone

Perhaps our favorite pool decking material is natural stone. This could include stone such as granite, flagstone, slate or travertine. Natural stone is the perfect way to add a special touch to your project, and it has a unique ability to blend with the surrounding landscape. With so many options to choose from, finding a stone that complements your style and color scheme shouldn’t be hard.

However, depending on your installation method and stone choice, replacing damaged stones in the future may be difficult and pricey, so it is a good idea to tell your builder what look you want to achieve and ask for a quality  recommendation.
